The travel agency Elela Africa has made it into the LTG Top 10 „Safari Experiences not to be missed“. Guests are given the opportunity to look behind the scenes of a game reserve and make an active contribution to nature and species conservation. The agency’s unique concept proves that sustainable travel and individual luxury complement each other perfectly.
The Luxury Travel Guide (LTG) regularly provides its readers with hand-picked insights from the global travel industry. It is one of the leading publishers and is aimed primarily at travel enthusiasts in the premium segment. In luxury tourism, too, everything today revolves around the megatrend of individualisation. Customers want increasingly unique experiences that they can tell friends, family and colleagues about at home. The big adventure during the day, relaxation in the evening. What could be better than a trip to wild and exciting Africa?
Thanks to the increasing demand, more and more reserves are opening their doors to tourists and offering luxurious accommodation such as safari camps or exclusive lodges. In order to keep its readers informed, LTG annually honours ten providers for outstanding excellence. This year, Elela Africa also made it into the Top 10 of „Safari Experiences not to be missed“ – with one major difference to the competition: Guests are not tourists here, but part of the reserve. The magazine praises „In addition to gazing upon the continent’s most spectacular wildlife in their natural habitat, Elela Africa explores the impact that living in unison with these magnificent animals has on the local communities, as well as introducing the fascinating individuals that play a key role in their preservation.“ The concept thus meets the current sustainability movement and opens up new avenues against mass tourism.
„What makes Elela Africa different from many other tour and holiday providers is that they deliver authentic travel experiences that can be tailored specifically to your needs.“ says LTG about the agency. Setting up camera traps together with a ranger, accompanying a wildlife veterinarian at work or walking through the bush on the tracks of the last black rhinos – all these experiences provide a glimpse behind the scenes and at the same time contribute to conservation work. In an interview with the magazine, founder Sandra Claassen explains: „Our aim is to leave the smallest footprints with our safaris, to act responsibly and to support wildlife conservation. Therefore we take care to work with partners with the same mindset.“ In addition, the agency is keen to respond to the needs of each individual guest and thus combine adventure with individual luxury.
Elela Africa has attracted media attention early on through its unique approach of combining luxury safaris with conservation work. Only recently Sandra Claassen told in an inspiring TED talk how she decided to travel to South Africa to make a fresh start after years of working for a German agency. Far away from restless cities and the pressures of everyday life, she found herself back in the wilderness of Africa, back to herself and to the award-winning concept that today enables travelers to discover southern Africa in a sustainable and extraordinary way.
